Armiya Nasha Rodnaya

Our Native Army is a collection of patriotic and military-themed songs by composer Anna Kozlova, created to commemorate the legacy of those who served during times of war and to foster respect for military service among younger generations. Published in Minsk in 2016, the volume brings together eleven vocal works that reflect themes of courage, sacrifice, remembrance, and devotion to one’s homeland. The collection was prepared for use by music educators, students, choir directors, and amateur and professional vocal ensembles.

Blending lyrical melodies with accessible choral and vocal arrangements, the songs portray soldiers, commanders, wartime musicians, and the enduring memory of the fallen. Several pieces draw upon Belarusian cultural traditions and historical memory, making the book both a musical resource and a reflection of contemporary Belarusian patriotic repertoire. The collection includes works such as Ballad of the Commander, The Unknown Soldier, Kandahar, A Soldier Marches On, and the title piece, Our Own Army.

Richly rooted in themes of remembrance and national identity, Our Native Army offers a valuable snapshot of Belarusian commemorative music in the decades following the end of the twentieth century, preserving songs intended to honor military service while encouraging collective singing and cultural education.
