A Field Guide to the Birds of Kazakhstan (Полевой Определитель Птиц Казахстана) is the first comprehensive field guide devoted to the avifauna of Kazakhstan, covering more than 500 species found across the country’s vast steppes, mountains, deserts, wetlands, and forests. Written by leading ornithologists A. F. Kovshar and V. K. Ryabitsev, the guide combines detailed species accounts with Ryabitsev’s superb colour illustrations, photographs of rare birds, and distribution maps for every species. Published in Almaty by BTS Print in 2014, this substantial 514-page volume is an indispensable reference for birdwatchers, naturalists, researchers, and anyone with an interest in the rich birdlife of Central Asia. Although the main text is in Russian, English titles and introductory material make it valuable to international birders as well.
