Abai: Kniga Slov. Poemy

Abai’s major work is The Book of Words (Kazakh: Қара Сөздер), a philosophic treatise and collection of poems where he encourages his fellow Kazakhs to embrace education, literacy, and good moral character in order to escape poverty, enslavement and corruption.

Abai (Ibrahim) Qunanbayuli (1845-1904). Abai was born in 1845 at the bottom of the Chingiz Mountain in the today’s Abai district (former Karkaraly) located in Eastern Kazakhstan region (formerly, the Semipalatinsk region).
