Anasha Dlya Myateja

Pot for the Rebellion (Анаша для Мятежа) is a collection of crime stories and nonfiction-inspired narratives by Kyrgyz writer and former police officer Alexander Zelichenko, drawing on his extensive experience in law enforcement and the fight against drug trafficking. The title reflects one of the author’s recurring concerns: the intersection of drugs, crime, social instability, and political violence in Central Asia. Written with the immediacy of a seasoned investigator, the book combines elements of detective fiction, reportage, and social commentary, offering a distinctly Kyrgyz perspective on the darker realities surrounding the illicit drug trade. Zelichenko’s professional background gives the stories an unusual documentary edge, while his narrative style keeps them accessible and suspenseful. Published in Bishkek by Salam in 2013, Pot for the Rebellion is a revealing example of contemporary Kyrgyz crime and nonfiction literature, rooted in the region’s turbulent post-Soviet landscape.
