Boghach Khan

Boghach Khan (Boğaç Han) by Hayrullah Kaya is an illustrated retelling of a traditional epic from the Book of Dede Korkut, set in the world of the ancient Oghuz Turks. In this tale of courage, betrayal, and coming of age, a young boy earns the name Boghach after demonstrating his bravery and strength. However, the jealousy of those closest to his father, Dirse Khan, leads to betrayal and threatens the bond between father and son. As suspicion and deception take hold, Boghach’s fate rests in the hands of his wise and courageous mother, Khan Khatun. Combining a legendary narrative with richly detailed illustrations, Kaya’s work explores themes of honour, integrity, family loyalty, and the transition from childhood to adulthood, bringing a celebrated Turkish epic to life for a new generation of readers.
